The PhD Program in Computer Science of UFMS in association with UFG was approved and recommended by CAPES in 2009 with concept 4 and began its activities in August 2010. The program initially counts on nine professors of the regular staff: four from the FACOM / UFMS and five from INF / UFG.
The current lines of research of the program are: Theory of Computing, Information Systems and Computer Systems.
In the Line of Computation Theory researches are developed in the areas of Parallel and Distributed Algorithms, Bioinformatics, Graph Theory and Combinatorics, Theory of Algebra Representations, Algorithms Analysis and Computation Complexity, Discrete Mathematics and Combinatorics. In Information Systems researches are developed in Software Engineering, Information Visualization, Human-Computer Interaction and software testing. In the Line of Computing, the searches are in Computer Networks, Security and Distributed Systems.
Doctoral candidates should preferably have completed a master’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Exceptionally, a candidate can be admitted without a master’s degree.
